Filmed on location in Penticton in 1985, it won six Genie awards {Canada’s equivalent to the Oscars}. It seemed fitting to wear red, white and blue while visiting the city this weekend. The weather was beautiful; warm, mostly clear skies and very little wind. Penticton and it’s neighbouring communities of Naramata and Summerland are situated in the Okanagan Valley, a region in south central BC. The southern Okanagan has a sunny, dry climate and the abundance of orchards in the area is a picturesque reminder that this is agricultural country. The focus has increasingly shifted towards grape growing and wine production, and there are wineries offering tastings around every corner. A very lovely weekend indeed!
