Hello, and bonjour my friends. The little bistro tables in the photos above give a wee nod to a Parisian tableux. But I assure you that we, the mister and I, are firmly rooted on Vancouver soil. Our recent bout of fog lifted Sunday and we stepped out for une cafe avec le sandwich. The neighbourhood? Vancouver’s Mid-Main Street district. Several blocks of storefront treasures…high fashion, consignment, furnishings, coffee shops and eateries. Le dejeuner, or lunch if you will, was ever so lovely. We sat and we chat. At Coco Et Olive. That, and some window shopping, brightened up a typically grey January day. Hope you enjoy a few photos of some of my favourite window displays.
Yes, you’ve seen my plaid skirt before…today I’ve paired it with stripes and paisley. And comfy riding boots good for hoofing around town. Yuk, yuk, yuk!
Okay…I am beginning to implement a few fresh ideas here on the blog…slowly. I guess those with the way of the word would say I’m allowing things to develop organically. Yeah, I’m slow. Any thoughts or comments are welcome. And thanks for continuing to stop by during construction…Hey, if you’re local, no doubt you’re encountering more than enough of that while navigating Vancouver’s infrastructure. Yikes! I’ve never encountered so much road work, as I have in these most recent couple of years. And there it is…that little bit of random that finds it’s way onto the blog…Hey, you guys are the best! Thanks for reading!

There is so much fun, colour and happiness in this look. Seriously the best combination ever. I love the rainbow skirt and the pattern mixing. The polka dot bag is so stunning.
Hey we are coming over to your side of the pond this weekend…we plan to dine at some French bistros and walk the seawall. Is there anything that you might suggest we do or see? MrHB is attending the boat show and I plan to go to Holts and look for some lingerie…..thoughts?
That blazer!!!! I have one similar by Zara coming to my way. That blazer is a classic and I adore the way styled it with such colorful plaid skirt and long boots. You are happening my dear!!! The pictures are always great and spontaneous in your blog, reason why I keep coming for more.

Love the outfit. I lurve plaid too! 🙂 Those white paper dresses look cool!
I agree, with Sabine, you do look like a professional model, Sue! I can imagine you as a carefree 60s chick, swinging down the street so fancy-free. Lovely photos, and a gorgeous outfit, tres Parisienne! And what pretty shop fronts too.
Slowly, slowly developing and changing is fine – there's no rush, things need to evolve in their own good time. Happy to keep stopping by to see what you're up to, Cousin Sue! xxx
Those paper cakes are just too cool! Love the outfit too, that combination is perfect 🙂
Great and creative post Sue! Doesn't matter how often you post, I like that each post is so well thought out and interesting. These pictures are great and your outfit is sassy and fun. Love the paper dresses.

Fabulous mixing of colors, prints, etc. I always look forward to your posts!
I love your blog. You are the perfect blend of mad and mod…your posts are a sensorial delight. I feel as if I've now had a new travel journey as well because your photos are so pretty and real. Looking forward to next time!
I love me a bit of random! What a fun post – just what I need on our 9th or 10th cold foggy morning (and no end in sight here).
I think that's the best pattern mixing I've seen – way to go! I guess stripes and dots are like neutrals, and plaid and paisley are almost gagging for each other, so this makes a fantastic foursome.
Thanks for taking us shopping with you. If I ever, I mean NEXT TIME I get to Vancouver you'll have to show me all these shops and cafes and wonderful indulgent places!
I loved all those photos of the window displays. Is it national paper week that everything is made out of paper?
You look so French in these photos. French with flair : )
bisous

Wow, I love everything about this! You look so happy and your outfit is amazing. I've never even considered plaid before and you've inspired me. You look like a schoolgirl in the best possible way. 😀
They look nice, I love your skirt is gorgeous, the color scheme is cute. The sailor suit is beautiful and the outfit with pretty wonderful scarf and boots is superb. A classic look, but very modern at the same time, I love it.
LOVE the hair, and these photos are magnificent!
Ah … one of the best women I know (looking way beyond cute, as always) in one of the best cities in the world. Perfection. You look really lovely and lively, our Sue. Between you and Greetje, I'm in armchair travel heaven.
Adorbs adorbs adorbs. Oh how I envy your style!
You look gorgeous and the plaid skirt is a scene stealer! As well as your smile!
Hats off to you! What an amazing combination and it all looks great! I wish I could think of something so pretty…
I LOVE YOUR COLOR!!!
I am a bit mad for plaid myself, and I'm loving these photos! Your pictures also look much sharper and more vibrant!
I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy your January day as we had a little reprieve from the fog and rain 🙂 🙂

I'm a complete sucker for window displays. Perhaps that is because it was my minor in college…Visual Merchandising 🙂 On to the outfit…YOU LOOK SOOOO CUTE! I love the plaid skirt with the polka dot bag. I think the bag is perfect cuteness. I wore a similar color palette on Sunday. Great minds think a like.

This outfit looks like it could be in a magazine. So many things to love about it! The patterns, the colors. You have such a signature sense of style and I love it!
You know how much I love pattern mixing, and you are just fabuloussssssssssssssssss
Great pattern mixing! You're looking very happy and vibrant. The shop windows are divine!
Ooh, did I know you were in Vancouver? You're right across the pond from me! I'm in Victoria.
Adore this outfit – love love love. The colours, that skirt! And so nice to see one of my favourite shopping areas on Main! I always go into Barefoot Contessa, and of course, the Smoking Lily store.
Sue…you make me smile; yours is just so infectious! And I covet that skirt sooo badly! I'm gonna do my “Mad for Plaid” theme next week but I highly doubt my skirt is anywhere as adorable and vibrant as yours.
you never stop getting cuter!
If anyone could match all the patterns and colors… it is you! It looks wonderful and absolutely like they belong together! The wedding store and cake store are amazing! I think I could spend al day in them!

First of all, you almost make me want to go back to school, this look is so preppy and bright and happy. I guess I must of had an awfully great educaional experience. You, Sue, are hands down the pattern mixing queen of the blogging sphere. I am pinning this right now. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE!
Wow! Just love the mix of patterns in this look! They all work so well together! Those window displays are just amazing and truly unique, especially the stacked chairs!

I love your style Ms Lady – have a wonderful weekend!
Amazing that so much of your outfit is thrifted. You look so fresh and new. Lovely outfit. Colourful and classy. You managed to combine, plaid with stripes and polka dots. My compliments. I would not have come up with this and it looks great. Vancouver sounds and looks pretty good.
Sue! I love, love, love the plaid! It is perfect, and perfectly YOU. I think your blog is evolving wonderfully! You are talented, have a gift for photos and writing, so just keep working it and see what happens!

Wow! That cake shop is awesome. And the paper dresses!!!! What fabulous window shopping and how fabulous you looked doing it.
Wow! What wonderful colors in that skirt! And you surround it so well. Perfect outfit. Artistic and stylish.
Plaid, polka dots and stripes? A winning combination!
You'd never know it was thrifted…. Very crisp! Playful yet elegant.
(Hello!) Aren't you cute! I love the plaid skirt and you style it so great with the blazer and scarf and boots…and shirt… and everything!
Those window displays really are quite artsy. Shops in our area don't seem to put any effort in getting the casual window shoppers attention (which is sad), except for that one place that has the 'live mannequins', which I actually find a little creepy.
