Have you ever driven past a muffler shop, or maybe a discount furniture store and seen those super tall inflatable air dancers? Errr, that would be yours truly in more than a few photos of me wearing my latest make. Not exactly the look I was going for, LOL. Just a whisper of a sea breeze and I was nearly airborne. But! I DO love these palazzo pants. Now, you know I love prints as much as ten times more than the next person, but I was a little hesitant when it came to sewing my first pair of wide legged pants. Clocking in at under 5’2″, I’m well aware that not every runway look is suitable for my short stature. Could I? Should I? Palazzo pants have been tempting me for quite some time…ikat, flowery, dotty…I love them all. I just wasn’t sure if they would love me back. Fate intervened when I spotted Vogue Pattern V2958 in my local Value Village. I didn’t hesitate. The pale blue lightweight cotton shirting had been languishing in my stash. At $2.00 a meter, it was the right choice for what could quite possibly be an epic fail. The blouse I made out of the same fabric to further create the illusion of length. I cautiously love the results…both the pants and the blouse are super comfortable, and I think I’m okay silhouette-wise, providing the weather conditions are cooperative. Yes! I think my experiment was/is a success! I’m already plotting my next pair. Yes. I. Am. Printed. Colourful. Coming. Soon. This outfit felt just right for the seaside. Pale, watery blue shades, fluid lines, and mother of pearl buttons on the blouse. And to top it all off, a vintage 1960’s sailor hat recently purchased from lovely Bella’s Etsy shop, Citizen Rosebud Fresh Picked Vintage. Thank you so much Bella!
