40+ BLOGGER MEET-UP 2015 : : VANCOUVER CANADA
A few weeks later Suzanne emailed. She had, not only a blog button, but a definite rah rah pitter patter and let’s get at er vibe going on. And…about eleventy hundred emails later…we had ourselves a blogger meet-up.
Suzanne and Melanie did the lion’s share of the work. Me? I panicked. Enthusiasm for something that’s never gonna happen…I’m good at that. But an actual, for real, blogger meet-up? It sounded…scary. Why? Because inviting everybody to your house is scary. I mean, what if everybody comes? What if nobody comes? What if everybody comes and nobody has a good time? Clearly I have some insecurities when it comes to entertaining on a grand scale….and…maybe I neglected to mention that little fact over lunch. No matter, Suzanne and Melanie soldiered on…Suzanne pounding on the keyboard, Melanie pounding on the pavement. My designated role was to be the voice of reason, otherwise known as the third vote. There may have been one, possibly two, moments when I stamped my tiny foot….the champagne fountain and complementary 40+ Blogger terry robes come to mind…but seriously, our vision was united from the get-go.
And? I think we pulled it off. I know I had a stellar time. I hope you did too. I really, really, enjoyed getting to know you better and I thank you from the very bottom of my heart for coming. Planes, trains and automobiles. Bloggers from BC, Toronto, New York, Utah, Florida, Washington State, California, Chicago, The Netherlands, Finland and Singapore. Who’d a thunk it?
Will it happen again? You know you wanna…..

You obviously work very well together, the three of you – and with all the talents and efforts combined, a miracle happened! It's a big and true success, you've really done an amazing job! Here is to more in the future!
Yay Sue! What a crew. It was the best. What are we doing next week?
This looks like great fun!
What beautiful and talented ladies.

What a fantastic blog post, Sue! I grinned hugely through it all. I absolutely related to all that angsty stuff about inviting people to your house. LOL I love this mosaic of us all and whomever selected that picture of me (was it you?) I could just kiss a gajillion times over. I actually like it. It was such a wonderful weekend and I want to do it again. I just need a couple of years to recover. xo
A wonderful event, I wish we had one like this here in Sicily!
What a wonderful time it must have been! That little drawing of you lot is priceless 😀
Take some credit, Sue. You were one of the trio of tyros who created this fun event. Plus, your bubbly personality added charm to it.
You did great. Look at all the insane smiles in the 5×5 collage. The fabric flower has gone onto my “Joy” alter and I will be using the dotty lanyard at all future lanyard-driven events.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
I am totally in to do this again! I volunteer my help if needed (apparently I am now Madame Bossy Pants around the interwebz, hee hee). How do I always end up with a big goofy look on my face?
I brought my lanyard to work and use it! I think of you, Sue! Drop me a line next time you're on the Island – I'm meeting up with Jane (up there ^^) this Sunday!
Hee hee hee, Sue. This is a fantabulous post!!!
It's easy to forget how it started out, and to see that photo from December and to think what just happened, well, it's pretty empowering – something awesome from guffaws in a coffee shop. And don't undersell your importance. In addition to your excellent suggestions, including Forage, you kept me together when I was second-guessing everything. And the pie definitely helped. Having the three of us together was PYRAMID POWER! Heh. I love your photo assemblage.
You three are a Stellar Trio. Even though I wasn't there I thank you very much. I had a good time even from afar!
This is PERFECT! : ) What a brilliant idea with the collage!
It is funny to think of how the idea came about…just as a joke really that grew into an idea and finally became a reality.
I kind of think it was great that you were the third vote and the voice of doubt and reason when necessary. I am mad I didn't get my bathrobe…next time though…right? ; P
As the three musketeers say, “All for one and one for all!”
and for next time we meet…
“Never fear quarrels, but seek hazardous adventures.”
bisous
Suzanne
All these photos are making me feel like I made the biggest mistake of my life – I should have saved some money, sold a kidney or something, and just gone to Vancouver! You, Suzanne and Melanie did an amazing job, and it looks like everyone had such a good time. If I could go back in time, I'd be in those pictures, too!
To be honest, it wasn't even like work Natalia. Even though our communication was primarily by email, we laughed together so much! We missed seeing you, but hopefully sometime in the near future, we'll get to meet. You aren't really all that far away, after all.
LOL! If only! You and True Love brought some major style to the streets of the city. I hope you managed a few moments of togetherness! Lovely to have met you!
Oh, it was great, great fun Samantha! Thank you for stopping by and saying Hi!
Thanks bunches Shawna! I'm happy you're happy with the photo! I saw all kinds of good photos of you, but I tried to choose one that was extra special!! Now, rest my friend!
I know a few bloggers in Italy. It is conceivable that you too could have a blogger meet-up in Sicily!
OH! It really was fabulous! I had an excellent weekend all round. Melanie's artwork is whimsical while still totally capturing us, yes! I'm wearing my Coffee with Kaffe with dress even!
Thanks so much Ally! It probably took a bit before the bubbly personality came out…I can feel a little shy in crowds at first. So happy you made the trek from NYC! One day, I hope to visit your vibrant city!
Thanks Anne! I feel totally lucky that I snagged that seat beside you at brunch! I was determined to monopolize your time, at least for a few hours! You are a such a fun, creative person and I seriously can't wait to see you again!
LOL, Madame Bossy Pants with the pink panties! You are da bomb girlfriend! I can't wait for my turn to show up on your doorstep…well, the doorstep of a favourite consignment store, or cafe.
I really tried to choose photos that captured the essence of the blogger…wait, wait…hear me out. You are so genuine and funny and fresh, and the goofy faced photos are just you wearing your heart on your sleeve! I love that! Having said that, if you'd rather a more austere mug shot, I am more than happy to switch out the photo. Your call. And so's you know…your photo was the one I had to think about the most before adding to the collage.
So cool that you are using your lanyard!
Sue!!! Wow, I'm sure you all had a great time! I don't believe it is easy to organize such an event, and it looks like it was a real success. Congratulations and I'm looking forward to seeing more of those meetings -photos.
Thanks dahling Melanie! Guffaws, YES! We were well beyond laughing at some point! I had forgotten about the second guessing…you had a lot of responsibility and you done better than good! One of the things I liked best about the restaurant choices, was the freedom to mingle and not feel like we were being glared upon by other diners. Oh, and the nachos at Earl's were really yummy. Shawna, Ally, and I all had our own orders of them. Natch!
Anne really should have kidnapped you and Val! Now, that would have been epic!
Isn't your photo boss!!! Value Village sells bathrobes so be careful what you wish for, yuk, yuk, yuk!
Ooooh….hazardous adventures….how scary can Talize be, wonders me.
Can't wait to see you again soon!
You were so missed Val! Like I said to Connie…too bad Anne didn't kidnap you both! She's really sweet, so I'm pretty sure she would have given you back. But! No regrets Val! You and Mr. Sparkle have had some of your own excitement too! And there very well could be LA in the future!
Oh, we sure did have a great time! Bloggers take lots of photos at meet-ups, but there will indeed be some fun ones shares, and soon I hope.
Sounds like a blast!!!
sounds like all had a great time, Sue. You done good!!!!
Sounds great!! 🙂
Hey Sue, thanks for posting about your blogger meet up. Sure sounds like a fun and also intimidating and all the rest of those emotions and thoughts we all go through when we are going to be socializing, lol. I am working my way through visiting the bloggers sites. Very fun.
Shirl
It all went so smoothly that you must feel very relieved knowing your worries were all for nothing. We have a saying which I am sure you have in your language too. About how you suffer more because of the suffering you fear is ahead, than the actual suffering that does take place. (Not my best English.)
I thoroughly enjoyed the meet up. There was such a vibe of love and understanding, it was as if we went back to the seventies. Peace man. Love. I am not joking. And the laughter… gosh did I laugh!
And I finally met you. Now I am envying everybody who lives near Vancouver. And I hope you come and visit me in The Netherlands.
Greetje
Yes, I get that. Also the saying, '90% of what you worry about never happens'
I have edited my post from Holland to The Netherlands. It was interesting to me to read that North and South Holland are provinces in The Kingdom of the Netherlands.
It was fun! And yes, you know me well!
Very, very great Hana!
We did *done good*!
Yes! And there were some makers that I had never met, so all very fun and inspiring!
Ah, the Magical Triumvirate that made that amazing weekend happen! You done good, you. And I'm with Shawna – thanks for the fine photo of me in the collage. A flattering one is hard to come by. At least I'm not eating or showing off my triple chins (which would be kinda normal). Heh!
It looks great fun, and you, Mel and Suzanne should be very proud of yourselves for organising/hosting it all. Those thumbnail pics are fantastic! xxx
Looks and sounds like it was a fabulous time had by all! So awesome that so many bloggers were able to attend from literally all over the world! Everyone looked so amazing!, but of course you all did!

What a fabulous gathering! Form the looks of things you ladies had a blast and then some. You ladies all have awesome sense of style that makes you unique, I love it!

Congratulations! From the posts that I've been viewing, the blogger meet-up was incredible. You, Suzanne and Melanie are very powerful, individually and together. Brava!!!
How fun! I remember many years ago meeting with a group of people who all hung out in a chat room together, it was the best weekend, I don't remember the last time I laughed so much. Looks like you guys had the same kind of fun!
Oh we use both, don't worry. Both provinces of Holland started The Netherlands. They were first to develop, the richest and they still are. The rest of the country developed around it. Did you also read that the whole country is below sea level? If the dikes and the dunes give in, we are history haha. Which is why we are so good in managing this (see Delta works: http://www.deltawerken.com/Deltaworks/23.html)
It looks like so much fun! How much I wish I could come over and hang out with you cool girls 🙂
Beautiful post of an amazing meet up!!!
Oh that sounds so fun! I would love to come to a meet up like that. Especially 40 and over. i often am the only over forty blogger at the events I go to. Not that it bugs me…. but still!
