ANNE KLEIN JUMPSUIT : : VOGUE PATTERN 2671
Hi you. Whew…this little project was a very long time in coming together. Way…waaaaay…back in early June, I participated in Gillian’s #sewingdares challenge. My unique dare was to sew something inspired by a childhood outfit. The wheels turned and I cranked out my Matchy Wear. It was a fun way for me to focus in on a project, and so…feeling brave…I asked readers for another dare. As it turned out, only my cousin Curtise* stepped up. She dared me to make a jumpsuit. Believe it or not, I couldn’t wait to get started…the reality that it’s taken 4 months to get to completion boggles me. It’s either cotton or rayon…I’m betting cotton because the wrinkling isn’t too bad. The dark navy is…eeps…polyester. Not sure how I feel about that….I love me my natural fibers. But you know what? Desperate can’t be choosy. I did my usual alterations to the pattern, shortening the pants and the bodice. I also drafted the neckline smaller because I remember it slipping around and showing bra straps. As I’m between sizes and the fit is generous, I sized down for this make. Even so…after construction…I shortened the sleeves and nipped in the side seams of the bodice. Yes I agree…a size smaller would present a more pleasing silhouette…but these old patterns have only one size per envelope. Makers…this jumpsuit is pretty straightforward, although there is a tricky bit when sewing the facing … Continue reading ANNE KLEIN JUMPSUIT : : VOGUE PATTERN 2671
