Ho Ho Oh Oh…

This post almost never happened.  Who knew it would be so challenging to take a few pictures of the Christmas Tree in all her glory.   It all started with discovering that a string of lights was out.  So, I began the ponderous task of trying to figure out which light bulb had burnt out.  Then a second string of lights went dark.   I felt hooped.  The idea of redecorating almost the entire tree was daunting to say the least.  The bright side is that I have a blog now.  Finally, some drama to write about.  I know you’re riveted and at the edge of your seat.  I bought two new strings of lights.  100 hundred twinkles each.  I whimsically wrapped them around the garland, the tinsel, the baubles, the boobles, even over the two dead strings of lights.  And then, after all that,  I realized that I would not be happy until I removed the old non functioning lights. If I had removed them first, it would have made at least a little sense.  However, I managed the operation.  The tree isn’t perfection, but honestly, it never is.  The ornaments go on randomly, as does the garland.  I always think fondly of my Dad when I decorate the tree.  I believe he was a type 4 and he was meticulous about putting on the lights and precise with the application of the tinsel, and by tinsel I mean the silvery little threads of foil that you can’t have on the tree if you have cats.  When I was younger, I just assumed that the men put the lights on the tree, and the women put the glittery balls on the tree.  Imagine my dismay to find that my mister has no precision or patience with stringing the lights.  In the end, it all works out, and our little tree will look good, at least until the cats get rambunctious and start chasing each other around the tree, unintentionally shaking precious heirloom ornaments off as they go.

Good Job with the tree Sue!
Mr D put the light in our tree and the grandkids did the rest – I don't do trees;)

I know, I know! But I have really, really limited my other Christmas displays. The tree really gets all the glory.

Do try it Cindy! I have collected these ornaments over many years, but you can buy some pretty fun and expensive treasures anytime.

I love your Christmas tree! So pretty and full of ornaments and berries and colorful bulbs! Great job. Your initial solution of throwing on the new lights over everything else would have been my way…and my I'm sure my husband would be having none of that and would be re-doing it. haha
Merry Christmas to you, Sue. 🙂

As another Type 1 with a dad who is definitely a Type 4, I think I laughed out loud when I read this post. I still find myself obsessing a little when it comes to decorating the tree and my family is happy to let me handle most of it, since I seem to know the “right” way, thanks to my dad.

    Have a wonderful holiday!!
