I am lucky.

I live by the sea.

Earlier this weekend I took a walk down memory lane, and by that I mean I literally went for a walk in one of my old hoods.  It’s funny when the steps you take are so completely familiar, yet the surroundings so dramatically changed, leaving one in a mild state of confusion.  The office that I used to work in, with it’s large floor to ceiling windows, has been stripped bare and is now a martial arts studio.   I admit, I find a certain irony in this, as I reflect on the various conflicts that went on within those walls back in it’s office hey-day.  It might have been helpful, or at the very least therapeutic, to hit the mat with a belligerent client, or even a cranky senior staff person.  One of the more unique aspects of the locale was the stripper bar directly across the street.  If there had been any question as to the nature of the business, any and all doubts were erased after a thoughtless {or perhaps thoughtful} renovation…crystal clear glass entry doors revealed dancers, nekkid dancers.  This was particularly evident when vehicles would leave our parking garage at dusk, and the car headlights would shine directly on…well you know.   This building was also home to a popular night club and some rather sketchy living quarters above.  And now?  In it’s current incarnation the building is home to a Senior Services Society.  So, the way I see it is that there’s been either a significant change in the demographics …or perhaps there’s some very old strippers and clubbers still in the hood.

Now, about this outfit.  Today was a glorious beach day.   I’ve seen a lot of beachwear on Pinterest recently.  Flip flops and short-shorts, straw hats and colourful tees.  It’s still winter here, but that doesn’t mean a girl can’t dream.  My outfit is casual, but a watery hued scarf and a trio of my handmade ocean inspired bracelets brings it up a notch, yes?  I think nature can be a great inspiration in art, jewelry, and personal style.  My colour palette today is inspired by the ocean, the sand, the rocks, and the sky.

You and I are indeed lucky to live by the sea – yours in gorgeous, rugged Vancouver and mine in balmy Florida. Beauty in both places, for certain. Love your seaside look today, the sweater is cozy and the boots look just perfect for beach walking. Thanks for linking up!

You ARE lucky – I miss the smell of salt air and the sound of gulls. And is it really warm enough to walk around like that? We are getting hints of spring now – bring it on!

I love your layers and your soft sweater and scarf, and the handmade bracelets. I need to do more soft bracelets – I might actually wear them. You look just fab!

I've been so wanting a sweater like that. Have you noticed that most of them are stiff in the thrift stores? Maybe I just need to spring for a new one! You look fresh and alive!

What a lovely relaxed outfit, you look so happy and healthy by the sea! Love that cosy jumper! Like you I live by the sea (15 minutes drive away, I mean) and it's so good for the soul isn't it!

It's funny, there has actually been quite a good selection here, and not stiff at all, or stained!, which is the biggie when looking for a white toned sweater. I probably will regret not buying some of them, because they are a favourite with me.

Is it crazy that I looked at your photos had a major desire to feast on clam chowder?! I want it and I want it now!

That big comfy sweater looks lovely!

You just gotta go peek in the window to see if they left the stripper poles up! I have to know!
You look like the little mermaid that got her legs … except with a happier ending! Really casual chic at it's best, Little Feet. Beautiful.
