Turquoise and Lace…
White Tank Joe Fresh via Joe Fresh Cardigan Denver Hayes, thrifted

Today, I am joining Marionberry Style for her trend of the month, hence the outfit post mid-week. The trend? Lace. Honestly, lace felt a little bit more a challenge than an easy trend to embrace. How does one wear lace and not look like a Great Auntie, of which I am in fact one? Doesn’t Tim Gunn caution his proteges about the risk of lace looking too matronly? My goal was to wear lace in a fresh and fun way. I have a thrifted lace shirt, that on it’s own, hovers ever so close to being dowdy. With fresh and fun on my mind, I chose to pair it with printed pants, a yellow tank, and a lightweight sweater. I wasn’t satisfied with the look, and my niece suggested I switch out the tank for a white one, un-tuck the shirt, and add a belt. Much better! Thanks for your style suggestions Alyse! Do any of you get helpful advice from younger family members? While we were shopping this weekend, we found a veritable sea of lace. Skirts, dresses, tops, even lace pants, all fresh and modern looking. I was so tempted to buy something new but ultimately decided to take this lace trend on a test spin with my thrifted shirt first. Good news is that I like it. And that means I may have to go shopping so I can officially add a new lace garment to my wardrobe.

Look at that colour – LOVE it! The fingernail polish is an excellent fun accent too. Alyse's photos are wonderful. There's no way this lace is matronly. I hope you're wearing colour today in Vancouver too to brighten up this grey wet sky.
Hello Sue,
I don't see the slightes hint of a matronly style, in contrary. You look so young and fresh like the new born spring. I love the pics with the wind in your hair.
As long as my daughter lives with me she was my competent style guide. She still is when we go shopping. Although we do not prefer the same style.
Oh my heavens. You are TOO cute. So glad I found your blog. Love how you added in the metallics here, but the best is the socks. Great look!

Really great colours for the spring, I love white lace 🙂
Oh my gosh, I'm just in love with your manicure! So cute!
hi Sue! Diane Keaton, huh? I think she looks classic in some movies and Too Annie Hall in others, but she is a beautiful lady. I love your photos here on the beach. I have to use a tripod and it's still a bit too cold here to venture outdoors for snaps, but know you have inspired me with this outfit and how you modeled it outdoors. And btw, I LOVE TURQUOISE!
Your floral pants are great for spring! Amazing outfit! I'm your newest follower on bloglovin' 🙂 I'd love for you to follow back. xo

(Screaming with glee, jumping and clapping …) Ooooo, Sue !!! Best outfit ever! Well, at least one of the top five. But sooooo gorgeous. Fresh, contemporary, looks like it was made to go together, piece by piece. Great call, kid, about the pretty thrifted-bit-of-genius blouse!
And keep your young photographer on contract … you look at your most beautiful!
So good …

Nothing matronly about that – I love the lace shirt! And the bright colors of the pants and cardi. I think your niece gave you some good styling advice, though. I can't really imagine the shirt tucked in, and going for white on white makes it less cluttered (if you know what I mean). The colors match your bright personality!
Super cute!!! I don't find the lace shirt dowdy at all… I love the way you paired it with those bright pants!
Oh Sue! I love it when I find Chico items at Savers. Do you have Savers in your area? They are starting to be more on the east and midwest but they are primarily a Western States store. They are my favorite place to find great designers at a teeny price. Yay!
Pretty colors! I love the print on your pants 🙂
I love you in lace and blue, my dear Sue.
You look fabulous and so true and alive in every pic.

The lace looks spectacular and your photos are always top notch. Lace is one of my favorites, and have never thought of it as matronly. And I always appreciate intergenerational energy.
Cute! I absolutely love those pants – such a fun print. And that second photo of you is gorgeous 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend.
