Hi you! Good morning and thanks for popping by. I hope everyone enjoyed, or is currently enjoying, their weekend. Remember Puss? How is it that such tiny beasts can leave such gaping holes in our hearts when they leave us? The mister and I were pretty lost without the little guy, and about a month after he crossed, we decided to go to the BC SPCA…just for a visit you understand. We weren’t allowed pets in our apartment, and we were grown-ups that respected our landlord. So how was it that we found ourselves leaving the shelter with a cardboard box? To give ourselves a little credit, we went home without her…only to return the next day anxious to include her in our family. Oscar…Yes, she came with that name and I spent her entire life explaining that yes she is a girl, was a thin grey female relinquished to the shelter because her humans had moved and could not take her. I felt a moment of fear when it came to completing the adoption application. Yes, we were tenants,and no, we were not permitted pets. We must have scored adequately on the other questions, because we did indeed become the guardians of that little grey cat. She settled into our world easily. I had secret hopes of having two kitties so they could be company for each other, but for now we were blessed with a sweet little feline that delighted us daily. I fed her a raw food diet, and she began to thrive. She was putting on weight, her coat was like cashmere, and her eyes were bright and engaging. All was well. Or so I thought. You see, she kept gaining weight. A few weeks after that late February day, it became apparent that her weight gain was not just contented cat eating for one weight gain. Oh oh, Oscar, yes she is a girl, was pregnant. Suddenly, things seemed just a wee bit more complicated. Housing one illicit cat seemed manageable. The thought of one plus one…that’s 100% more cats…or one plus two, well you do the math on that one, was a scary thought. Things were heading straight to Awkward-ville and I was in the driver’s seat. Technically, I was in a position wherein I could take her back to the SPCA explaining that I couldn’t possibly care for a cat and her kittens. But, let’s be real here; that wasn’t an option at all! Nope, for whatever reason, I was destined to be the guardian of this little kitty and her yet to be born kittens. And really, how hard could it be? To be continued…
My outfit today is an ode to my dear blogging friend, Jan of Fort Smith Stylista. In Jan’s recent post here, she drew my attention to the poetic combination of navy with orange. Two colours opposite each other on the colour wheel that when worn together, positively sing. My own wheels got turning, and I eagerly jumped on the orange with gravy navy train. I absolutely love the outcome. Thank you Jan!

Two of my favorite colors and worn by you, beautifully in combination. I'm especially taken with your open toed shoes with navy polish and the polka dot bag.

Oh my. I can't wait to hear the rest of the story as long as it turns out good : ) I have a thing for any kind of bad animal story…basically I can't read or hear about them otherwise I cry and get upset for quite a while. What can I say, I'm a wuss.
This reminds me when we bought 2 lovebirds and were “guaranteed” that they were 2 females and would never mate. One short year after getting them I saw the one jumping on the back of the other. I thought, “that's weird…are they playing piggy back?” LOL Okay I was naive.
Only a few days later I think there were 2 eggs in the bottom of the cage and I freaked out. My Mother had birds that laid eggs and hatched babies and then the mother threw the babies out of the nest one by one and killed them all. It was horrifying to me and I didn't want to deal with that ever, but here were 2 eggs and I didn't feel I had the right to disturb them. Sure enough they hatched and 2 super tiny babies were born in our apartment in Quebec City where we too didn't have the right to have pets. Although one of the babies was born with a physical impairment and had to be put down later (it broke my heart) the other one became our favourite bird ever…completely tame and adorable, Midas. He lived 16 years with us and I still miss that little guy to this day.
With regards to the outfit I love the pop of the polka dots on the bag.

Oscar is such a good name for a cat, boy or girl! She's adorable – and kittens on the way! Wow, you are going to get in such trouble if your landlord finds out.
I love your outfit – bright as usual, or as Suesual. I really like the mix of simple patterns that work so well together, and I like seeing all the navy and orange going on in the blogosphere lately.
Oh Sue, Oscar is so a sweet little thing. She will get wonderful babies. I'm sure she found the right person to take care of her and her kittens.

Love the outfit, it looks so classy! Oscar reminds me of a kitty we used to “take care” of–she belonged to the neighbors–I use belonged to very loosely as they really didn't pay much attention to her, so she adopted us instead. When she had kittens she decided to have them in OUR garage. I am surprised that the shelter adopted her out, most of the ones around here will either wait until afterwards and then spay the cat/dog before releasing them for adoption.
I am waiting to know the end of the story…Oscar looks so sweet! I hope for a happy ending!!

Like everyone else, I'm hoping for the outcome of the kitty story to have a happy ending. They break your heart, don't they? But they are so wonderful to live with on a daily basis that it's all worth it.

Oscar is such a cutie pie. I found my tiny cat Lucy on the street and thought I was just getting one cat and an hour later she was giving birth to kittens! Save one cat get three more free! I found homes for them and I hope you do too. Good luck!

I love you outfit and you touched my heart about Puss, our cat Kaia (a boy cat) is now 16 and we know we have limited time to enjoy him.. We rented up until Aug 2012 and were not allowed pets, Kaia was our best kept secret
