Hi you. Thank you all for your positive feedback on my Quilted Art Girl Jacket. I received so many great suggestions and I’m really excited to give the garment as art concept another go. But, before we go there… This is my Colourblocked Shift Dress, Vogue Pattern 9048, a decidedly simple make in comparison to my Art Girl. It’s not just the lack of quilting…wot…no polka dots, no gingham, no floral? Am I late to the party? Has the trend come and gone? Meh…on trend or not…I wanted to play with solid colours for a change. The pattern is a Very Easy Vogue…and yes, ’tis true, it came together effortlessly. My Vogue Pattern dress is a bit of a mashup of View A and View B, with a couple of tweaks thrown in. I…

MARCY TILTON : : QUILTED ART GIRL JACKET : : VOGUE V9035

Well….that was fun. Sewing and quilting the Marcy Tilton Vogue Pattern V9035. Last summer, I was introduced to the mother of a friend. We immediately connected over our shared love for all things textile. She showed me her new sewing machine and the projects she was working on and our time together passed quickly. Although she had a variety of needle crafts on the go, it was evident that quilting was her passion. After seeing her makes, I left with my head not only buzzing with ideas, but with a delightful little book on quilting in hand. I dipped my toes ever so briefly into the quilting waters shortly after when I made my Refashioned Mens Button Down Shirt. Then…in December…I quilted my gingham skirt. I like these makes, but they’re…

Hi ya peeps! That’ll be me in the highly visible turquoise Polka Dot Clare Coat. Once again, we’re on Vancouver’s Seawall…that’s False Creek and Yaletown doing a stellar background job. And looky dat…blue sky…a rarity these days. When we were taking these photos, two lovely women stopped and complimented me on my coat and told me I was the best dressed person on the seawall….why thank you, thank you! But, wait one sec…I’m just gonna burst my bubble….I was also the least appropriately dressed person out there…a minor detail, I hope you’ll agree. {For those that need to know…my knock-off desert boots are in my tote bag, and my down coat is just out of camera range.} When Heather released the Clare Coat pattern in November, I was immediately drawn to view A with…

MARCY TILTON CIRQUE DRESS : : VOGUE V9112

Well….here we are hanging out together…me in my Marcy Tilton Vogue V9112 again. I hope you’ve had an awesome couple of weeks since we last chatted. Things have been ticking along pretty good here…I guess the biggest news would be that I have been sewing. It helps that the days are getting longer…no, it’s not spring yet, but a girl can dream. Now..shall we discuss Vogue V9112… Today’s make, Vogue Pattern V9112 also known as the Cirque Dress by Marcy Tilton, was all kinds of fun. Another no zip, no button, sew me in a day project. I’m pretty certain that there will be future Cirques in my closet….that doesn’t sound weird at all, does it? Now, it may not have as flattering a silhouette as my favourite fit and…
