In the Pink…
{MY DYT Type One Style Pink Shirt unlabeled, thrifted Pink Sweater Liz Claiborne, thrifted
Suede Booties Zoe and Zac, thrifted and last seen here}
After watching an episode of Dressing Your Truth’s 4 Types Beauty Panel on Carol Tuttle’s, The Carol Blog, I was inspired to add pink to my wardrobe. In this particular clip each of the five experts share photos of their wedding rings {it’s a Valentine’s theme}, and each of the women are also wearing the shade of pink that supports their energy type. Marcy, who’s dominant energy is type one like myself, looks so fresh and spring-like, that I was ready to think pink myself.
Fortunately the thrift goddesses obliged and made available for me, not only this shirt and sweater, but also a scarf, and a GAP t-shirt. And I am now feeling very much in the pink. I’ve included multiple hair shots in this post, not only to illustrate how windy it was when the photos were snapped, but to bravely assert my right to wear pink. It’s a colour myth that redheads can’t wear pink or red. I have always enjoyed wearing pinks, reds, oranges..well let’s be honest here…I enjoy wearing almost every colour under the sun. It’s proof really, that an unfortunate incident that occurred many years ago had no lasting negative effect on me. I was in my grade eight English class, and the class was discussing which colours looked best on which people. And why was this was being discussed in English? I have No Clue. Anyways, the Teacher, who shall remain nameless, stated quite authoritatively that people with red hair should never wear red. Oh Look! There’s little ‘ol me sitting in the middle of the class wearing a red top. And let me tell you, grade eight was tough; we’re talking the first year of junior high which means new school, new kids, that whole fitting in thing, blech! Everyone thought it was quite funny. I was mortified, not because I was wearing red, but because of all the attention on me. And, lest you care about the Teacher, she was visibly uncomfortable after what she had said. Putting your foot in your mouth can have that effect. And the point of my ramble is? Don’t let an old story, especially your own old story, limit yourself, clothing or otherwise. Try new things, have a little fun, and remember…the Teacher isn’t always right.
It recently occurred to me that I have been following the Dressing Your Truth Program for just over one year. I think a one year anniversary is a good time to do a little review on my personal experience with Dressing Your Truth, and I will put together a post in the next week or two.

“Don't let an old story, especially your own old story, limit yourself, clothing or otherwise.” Best words of wisdom for today, thanks Sue! You look wonderful in pink, and thanks for linking up to Vis Monday.
I think pink looks wonderful on you! When I saw your picture it just seemed so right. Now I'll have to go and watch this video (hope it's short).
Those amazing shoes are thrifted? Sweet score! Very pretty outfit! Pink flatters you. 🙂
I love pink and it looks so gorgeous on you.

You know I've always thought that redheads look GOOD in pink so that old rule is backwards! It suits you! Debbie @ ilovemylemonadelife.com
Great pastels, dear Sue. The pink is lovely, and like your casual styling as always. (You also make me think of a creamsicle … I'm jonesing for ice cream!)
Thanks for all the positive comments ladies! They'll be more pink coming…
Your hair is gorgeous, I don't see how it could clash with anything. But I love red hair, my best friend is a bright red head and I had hot pink bridesmaids dresses. I'm not sure how she felt about it as pink is usually out of her comfort zone, but she looked gorgeous. Teachers do say some idiotic things at times.
(would you mind adding a link in your post please?)
love your pink sweater!!
That's such a pretty pink! Lovely with the blue as well.
I've never understood that idea that redheads can't wear pink, but then I have alot of redheads in my family. Your pinks are lovely!
Hello Sue,
You definitely look wonderful in pink. Good that you did not listen to your teacher (or if you listened, good that you forgot it). I love this pastels on you, a beautiful message to spring to come soon.
Thrift godess is good to them who praise her.
Aw, thanks for the lovely comments! I love hot pink, and what a great colour for bridesmaids dresses.
About adding a link. I think there may be some confusion. I linked my Dr Seuss post to Ta Dah! Tuesday, but not this outfit post. I do have a link to your lovely blog hop on my Dr Seuss post. I've popped you an email to clarify. 🙂
Pink looks amazing on you!

Look at you in your pretty pastels today! Making me crave spring even more. Thanks so much for linking up!
oh sue, that is such a funny story. i think maybe that teacher should've stuck to english for sure!! ya know, 8th grade was a tough year for me too, i couldn't imagine a teacher (of all people) saying that and making me feel “all eyes on me”.
im so glad you came by and followed today, im even happier to be following back. hope you had a fantastic day!
What an interesting theory about the pinks and types of personalities. I'm not sure which color I would choose as mine. I think probably a strong darker pink – I'm large and in charge but not like abrasive (so I hope). I'm glad you are embracing it because I agree, it looks great on redheads 🙂
Good for you for being experimental with your colours. And it totally pays off! Happy Sunday, and hi from the link-up!
