When thrifting, I’m always on the look out for sweaters.  They represent so many possibilities to me.  You may have noticed my cushion cover here in my living room.  I’ve been sewing cushion covers from thrifted sweaters long before Pinterest existed.   I was recently in a thrift store and was rather taken aback by the cost of some of the sweaters I was seeing.   Albeit, they were in very good condition, so not necessarily fodder for cutting and sewing.  Yet still, I had a hankering for a little DIY, so I headed over to the children’s section.  I found this little treasure in the boys aisle, and loved the colour scheme.  Home it came.  It was too small for covering a pillow, and I secretly wanted to wear it anyways, so I decided to…

Today, I am joining Megan and Nora over at Two Birds.  They have a weekly link up titled Inspiration Monday.  It’s pretty simple really.  Each week they post a photo of a gorgeous celebrity looking effortlessly beautiful, and bloggers are invited to share their inspired outfit post.  The key word is inspiration.  I harbor no illusions of being a 26 year old.  I do however, love an opportunity to put my unique spin on a couple of basic items that most women have in their closets;  the classic white shirt partnered with dark wash jeans.  I also thought that this outfit would be a great example for me to demonstrate how Dressing Your Truth has helped me dress in a manner that better reflects my personality. Won’t You Step Into My Parlor…

Sunflowers     Please join me for a peak inside my living room All Christmas colour is packed away and my cheery collection of lanterns once again reclaims the mantle.  I bought the three larger ones at a local thrift shop for $1.00 each.  As much as I love the ambiance of candles; I have come to learn, from experience I might add, that candles and cats are not always a happy combination.  I have three criteria that I look for in a candle holder.     1.  Lanterns, or otherwise enclosed candle holders to prevent singed whiskers and/or tails 2.  A sturdy candle holder unlikely to be unintentionally, or otherwise, tipped over  3.  A vessel made from a fireproof material This last criteria has nothing to do with kitties.  Yes, it seems obvious…
